Description
NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS SCXI-1102C Product Description
Product Overview
NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS SCXI-1102C is a 32-channel analog voltage input module in the National Instruments SCXI signal-conditioning platform. It is designed to condition and acquire low-level analog signals from thermocouples, millivolt sources, voltage sources and current sources. The module provides 32 differential analog input channels, selectable gain ranges and a 10 kHz cutoff-frequency filter, making it suitable for industrial measurement and laboratory data-acquisition applications.
The NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS SCXI-1102C multiplexes all input channels to a single channel of a controlling DAQ device, allowing a relatively large number of field signals to be acquired through a compatible SCXI chassis. It also incorporates a cold-junction compensation sensor for thermocouple measurements and supports gain selection for low-level signals.
For legacy test, measurement and automation systems, SCXI-1102C remains useful as a replacement acquisition module where an existing SCXI architecture must be maintained. National Instruments currently lists the module as no longer available, so exact model and interface compatibility should be verified when sourcing a replacement.

Main Features and Advantages
32-Channel Differential Acquisition
The NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS SCXI-1102C provides 32 differential analog channels in a single SCXI module. Differential measurement helps reduce the influence of common-mode interference, which is useful when measuring low-level signals in electrically noisy industrial environments.
Selectable Gain
The module provides gain settings of 1 and 100, allowing the same hardware to accommodate both relatively high-level voltage signals and low-level millivolt signals. At gain 100, the module supports a ±100 mV input range, making it suitable for thermocouple and other low-amplitude measurements.

SCXI-1102C
10 kHz Signal Conditioning
Unlike the original SCXI-1102 and the SCXI-1102B, which use lower-frequency filtering, the SCXI-1102C provides a 10 kHz cutoff frequency. This gives it greater bandwidth for applications requiring faster analog signal changes while still providing input filtering.
Thermocouple Compatibility
The module incorporates a cold-junction compensation sensor and is designed for thermocouple signal conditioning. This makes it suitable for temperature monitoring as well as general voltage and millivolt acquisition.
Current-Signal Measurement
The SCXI-1102/B/C family is designed to accommodate 4–20 mA and 0–20 mA current sources, extending its usefulness beyond voltage-only instrumentation. This makes the module applicable to process measurements when used with appropriate signal-conditioning/wiring arrangements.
Multiplexed SCXI Architecture
All 32 input channels are multiplexed to a single channel of the controlling DAQ device. This architecture increases channel density without requiring a dedicated DAQ input for every field channel, making the SCXI system economical for multi-point measurement applications.
Calibration Capability
The SCXI-1102C supports calibration and verification procedures for gain and offset. NI’s calibration documentation provides specific test limits for gain 1 and gain 100 operation, which is important for maintaining measurement accuracy in long-term test systems.
Application Fields
NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS SCXI-1102C is well suited to multi-channel measurement systems requiring centralized analog signal conditioning. In industrial automation and process monitoring, it can acquire temperature, voltage and current signals from sensors and transmitters before transferring conditioned data to a compatible NI DAQ system.
In chemical and petrochemical applications, the module can support temperature and process-variable monitoring when integrated with an SCXI chassis and suitable sensors. Its differential inputs and selectable gain are particularly useful for low-level instrumentation signals that require conditioning before acquisition.
In power and electrical testing, SCXI-1102C can be incorporated into test benches for monitoring voltage, current-derived signals and other analog parameters. The 10 kHz bandwidth provides substantially more signal bandwidth than the lower-frequency SCXI-1102 and SCXI-1102B variants.
The module is also applicable to laboratory testing, automated test equipment, environmental monitoring and research instrumentation where multiple analog channels must be acquired through an existing SCXI/PXI-SCXI architecture. Its 32-channel density can reduce the number of DAQ acquisition channels required.
For legacy systems, the most important consideration is compatibility with the SCXI chassis, controlling DAQ device, cabling and NI-DAQ software configuration. Since NI identifies the SCXI-1102C as discontinued, replacement planning should account for the complete acquisition architecture rather than treating the module as an independent analog card.
