The OEM datasheet identifies 125760-01 specifically as the Data Manager I/O Module and distinguishes it from the standard 3500/20 RIM and the RS232/RS422 RIM I/O module.
Product Introduction
Bently Nevada 3500/20 125760-01 Data Manager I/O Module
The Bently Nevada 3500/20 125760-01 is the Data Manager I/O module used with the 3500 Rack Interface Module architecture. It provides the proprietary communication interface required for compatible Bently Nevada external communication processors, including TDIX and DDIX, allowing machinery data to be collected from the 3500 rack and transferred for monitoring and analysis.
This is a rack-interface component, not a vibration monitor itself. Its main value is maintaining the communication path around an established 3500 machinery protection rack. The module occupies a full-height rear slot, and the OEM specifies a 3 m maximum cable length for its Data Manager I/O connections.

Application Scenarios & Field Pitfalls
Engineering Pain Point
A failed data interface can leave the 3500 rack’s protection functions operating while the plant loses access to machinery information through the supervisory communication layer. That distinction matters. The 3500/20 RIM is not part of the critical monitoring path, so a communication-interface problem does not necessarily mean that the underlying monitor channels have stopped protecting the machine. The correct troubleshooting approach is to separate protection-path faults from rack communication faults before replacing monitor modules.
Typical Applications
- Power Generation — Turbine-generator monitoring systems where 3500 rack data must be transferred to supervisory machinery-monitoring equipment.
- Oil & Gas — Compressor and turbine trains using Bently Nevada 3500 racks with external transient or dynamic data collection.
- Petrochemical Processing — Critical rotating equipment where vibration, position, speed, and alarm information is collected through the 3500 architecture.
- Industrial Manufacturing — Large compressors, pumps, motors, and other rotating assets requiring centralized machinery-condition monitoring.
Technical Pitfalls to Avoid
- Do not confuse 125760-01 with the standard RIM I/O.
Bently Nevada lists 125760-01 as the Data Manager I/O module. The RS232/RS422 RIM I/O module is 125768-01. They serve different communication functions. - Check the communication architecture before replacement.
The Data Manager I/O uses Bently Nevada’s proprietary protocol and is intended for compatible TDIX/DDIX communication processors. It is not a general-purpose Ethernet, Modbus TCP, or serial gateway. - Watch the cable specification.
The OEM datasheet specifies a 3 m (10 ft) maximum cable length for the Data Manager I/O connection. Do not extend this connection simply because another 3500 communication interface supports much longer RS422 runs. - Verify the complete rack configuration.
One 3500/20 RIM is required per rack, and the RIM occupies slot 1 on the front side adjacent to the power supplies. The 125760-01 is the associated rear Data Manager I/O component. Check the installed RIM part number and communication processor before ordering a spare.
